Beautiful Day Café
Charolett Knapic was short on time and looking for a spot to get a healthy breakfast. Since she couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for and her grandparents had owned a restaurant, she decided to open her own.
After years of effort from her and many others, Beautiful Day Café occupies a special niche in Wichita. They are committed to local partnerships that build community. An example is the adjacent garden. “The foundation for this garden has been meticulously laid by a growing army of volunteers, and when at full production will allow us to fill your plates with our bounty. It will also serve as the classroom where we can practice, and teach, sustainable, natural land practices.”1 “We invite everyone to take a tour of our ever-evolving garden!”1
They partner with local food producers. “At Beautiful Day Cafe, we are committed to providing an environment that builds community with local partnerships between the growers & producers of our dishes served to our patrons. We support organic agriculture and biodiversity in farming, we believe we can help our local economy by supporting family farms and their earth friendly, quality goods. Local sourcing within trusted organizations lets our customers know where their food is coming from, how it is produced, and that the animals were treated humanely.”2 “Supporting us means supporting a network of local families.”1
They host special events and showcase local artists. An example is “One of the finest batik artists in the area, JahelkaArt, is now showing at Beautiful Day Café. Elegant, exquisite, dreamy, stunning landscapes. Make some time for yourself to see her show.”2
Now a broad community benefits because Charolett was short on time.
